Other Programs & Benefits
Financial Literacy
The aim of our newest program is to reach our high school youths
early, through our Financial Literacy program so that we can
inform them about the importance of being financially disciplined.
Our hope is to foster an environment where they develop good
habits and attitudes about money. We are currently in the process
of adopting our first HS for the program.
Networking
Where else but the NABA Columbus chapter can you tap into the
expertise of your peers through meeting with other finance and
accounting professionals that meet on a regular basis? Our chapter
strives to create the best opportunities for our members to
network with other professionals within the accounting and finance
industry in the Mid-West.
Information
Black Enterprise magazine, and NewsPlus Newsletter, continues
to offer timely, relevant, and useful analysis of professional
issues and current events. In fact, for each year you renew
your NABA membership, you receive a free 1-year subscription
to Black Enterprise. In addition, Spectrum, our annual publication,
is the official journal of the National Association of Black
Accountants, Inc. The journal is published with the intent of
providing a communication mechanism whereby readers are kept
abreast of key topics of interest within the accounting, finance,
and business professions. Technology updates, conferences and
events, and updates relative to industry standards are among
the items covered. Locally, we also plan to offer a subscription
to a local business magazine, which is in the works.
Movement
NABA has 48 Professional Chapters, found in many or the most
populous metropolitan areas in the country. All these chapters
execute programs targeted to the local communities and constituencies.
Membership transfers to other chapters as needed due to relocations
throughout the country.
Conferences
Each year, NABA convenes in cities across the nation to bring
together employers and NABA members and affiliates to network,
sharpen their skills, and engage in entertaining social activities.
These annual gatherings take the form of either the Annual National
Convention -- NABA's most anticipated event of the year -- and
Regional Student Conferences, held in convenient locations for
local student members.
Whether you represent a Fortune 500 company, or are interested
in attending yourself, you will find NABA's conferences to provide
some activity that will benefit you or your organization greatly.
